This evening dearest friends, this night I’m rolling forward,
eyes are prisoners of mornings past, they’re gliding backwards,
and these hands are bound to touch the heart of passers-by,
let them stars be shining and laugh your time away…
I stood by the cross with my feet belonging to the wind
and the ghosts of days to come were a revelation I denied,
“Hail!” to my Savior that gave his blood for me to live,
and poured in me his words so my thirsty mind could feed…
Awake at midnight I dream a small blue house with a garden,
the fences down, the blinds wide open and no keyholes to be seen,
Promise me we’ll read stories and write poems to the kids
Promise me, promise me, never let me down again…
